Vorkaroth

Country overview

The Crown-Moot Realm

A broad grassland and river realm beneath the volcanic Razorclaw Peaks. Mobile clans, forge communities and settled river districts negotiate power through a Crown-Moot.

Country and Razorclaw Peaks are established by the controlling map. No city name is invented where the map provides none.
The volcanic Razorclaw Peaks of Vorkaroth

Volcanic mountain range

Razorclaw Peaks

A long volcanic chain of black rock, active vents and old workings. The peaks supply rare ores but can close the northern routes without warning.

Name and position established by the controlling map.

The volcanic crown

The Razorclaw Peaks form a severe volcanic range above Vorkaroth. Snow, black rock and geothermal vents create abrupt changes in terrain. Forge communities value the mineral wealth, while mounted clans treat several high approaches as dangerous but necessary summer routes.

Fire, metal and authority

Control of ore and furnace sites gives the forge communities influence within the Crown-Moot. Clans provide transport and defence, river towns provide food and markets. None can exploit the range alone, which is why arguments over mining rights quickly become national disputes.

Essan beneath unstable stone

Heat and unusual mineral deposits can conceal or imitate signs of Essan activity. Investigators risk awakening old structures or causing ordinary geological disaster. Myaks may exploit the uncertainty, presenting sabotage as an eruption or an illicit excavation as routine mining.

Country dossier

Power, knowledge and pressure

The distinctions below are working worldbuilding unless a location is explicitly marked as map-established.

Terrain

Open grassland, wooded rivers, low hills, an eastern mountain valley, a southern gulf and the volcanic northern frontier.

Government

Rulers and clan delegates meet at the Crown-Moot. Authority shifts between mounted clans, river settlements and forge families according to season, war and trade.

Military

Heavy horse, mounted scouts, shield infantry and forge-supported siege crews. Armies gather quickly but require negotiated clan support to remain in the field.

Essan knowledge

Forge families recognise unusual ores, heat-resistant stone and weapons that retain power. Knowledge is strong in practice but fragmented between clans.

Myak infiltration

Myaks seek volcanic relics and use forged ancestry to enter clan negotiations. They also buy influence through ore contracts and disputed mine rights.

Borders

Snattack lies across the western plains. The Razorclaw Peaks and cold northern country restrict movement, while the southern and eastern coasts open trade routes.

Active disputes

Grazing rights overlap with Snattack. Forge families want permanent control of mountain approaches, while mounted clans resist any border that limits seasonal movement.

History and society

How Vorkaroth became itself

These sections develop the political and cultural framework beyond the fixed map labels. Proposed material remains clearly identified and can be altered without changing established geography.

National character

Vorkaroth joins grassland mobility, settled river life and the dangerous wealth of the Razorclaw forges. Its politics turn on whether a travelling crown can represent both camps and cities.

Society and daily life

Herding clans, grain towns, forge families, miners, river captains and southern woodland communities depend on one another without agreeing which way of life defines the realm.

Trade and economy

Horses, cattle, grain, timber, river trade and heat-treated steel move through the Crown-Moot network. Rare volcanic glass and resonant ore attract foreign buyers and relic hunters.

Clan age

The River and Grass Pacts

Seasonal camps and fixed towns created reciprocal rights to pasture, grain storage and crossings long before a national crown existed.

Moot era

The First Crown-Moot

Clan leaders, town speakers, forge masters and river captains agreed to elect a High Crown who could travel between them and be deposed if both camps and towns withdrew support.

Present expansion

The Razorclaw Boom

New mines have strengthened forge families and frontier lords. Claims of an ember heart beneath the peaks are turning commercial rivalry into a succession danger.

Institutions and people

Who holds power

Named officeholders created here are working worldbuilding proposals unless their status states that they are manuscript-established.

Institution

The Crown-Moot

Elects the High Crown and brings clan, town, forge and river interests into one national council.

Institution

The Travelling Court

Moves through the realm for part of each year so the crown cannot become captive to one city.

Institution

Razorclaw Forge Circles

Control specialist knowledge of volcanic glass, heat-resistant fittings and the detection of unusual ore.

High Crown

Mira Vosk

A former river captain elected as a compromise between settled towns and mounted clans. Her support weakens whenever she tries to regulate the Razorclaw mines.

Working worldbuilding proposal.

Speaker of the Forge Circles

Dren Kar

Dren wants permanent control of the safest mountain approaches and insists only forge families understand the risks below them.

Working worldbuilding proposal.

Northern clan rider

Ysra Venn

A popular commander who rejects fixed grazing borders and could become either the Crown's strongest defender or its most dangerous rival.
